When does the January transfer window open?

The winter transfer window will open on Thursday, 1 January 2026 for Premier League and English Football League clubs.
It will be open for a month before closing at 19:00 GMT on Monday, 2 February.
The deadline takes place in February as January 31 falls on a weekend.
The 2026 summer window will open on Monday, 15 June and closes on Monday, 31 August.
Premier League clubs spent a record £3.087bn in the summer transfer window, with Liverpool's £125m signing of Alexander Isak a British transfer record.
The league spent more on transfers than the Bundesliga, La Liga, Ligue 1 and Serie A clubs combined.
