Llanelli Town have been crowned JD Cymru South champions and are a step closer to a return to the Cymru Premier.

Lee John's side drew 1-0 at Cambrian United on Friday evening while title rivals Trethomas Bluebirds lost 1-0 at Afan Lido.

Llanelli are now waiting to discover whether they have secured an FAW Tier 1 licence for their promotion to be confirmed.

The Stebonheath Park club were Welsh Premier champions in 2008 and have been runners-up three times, but last appeared in the top-flight in 2019.

Meanwhile on Saturday the Cymru North title remained undecided after leaders Colwyn Bay beat Llandudno 3-0 to end the day with a three-point lead over Airbus UK Broughton, who drew 1-1 with Mold Alexandra to keep their hopes alive.

The title race will be settled on Saturday, 12 April with Colwyn Bay heading to Penrhyncoch and Airbus going to Caersws. Both title challengers have also applied for Tier 1 licences.
