Peterborough United loan signing Mahamadou Susoho has returned to Manchester City with a serious muscle injury.

The 18-year-old suffered the injury while warming up for Posh's Carabao Cup game against Oxford United and manager Darren Ferguson expects him to be out of action "for at least four months".

Susoho made his senior City debut as a second-half substitute in their 3-2 Champions League win at Dinamo Zagreb in December and went on their pre-season tour to the United States before joining Peterborough.

He started their League One season opener against Huddersfield Town before being substituted in the 66th minute.

"In terms of the injury, I don't think you could do much more damage to that particular area," added Ferguson.

"We have sent him back to Manchester City, [and] we will keep in touch with them and the aim would be to try and get him back in January."
