Wigan sign Fleetwood forward Asamoah until 2027

Maleace Asamoah made 17 league appearances for League of Ireland side Waterford during a loan spell earlier in 2024

Wigan Athletic have signed forward Maleace Asamoah from League Two side Fleetwood Town for an undisclosed fee.

The 21-year-old made a total of nine appearances for the Cod Army after joining the club in the summer of 2023 and joins the Latics on a three-year deal.

“I was excited when I got the call because I know Wigan is a prestigious club with a lot of history. I feel like it’s a great fit for me," he told Wigan's website.

“With the Gaffer [Shaun Maloney] being a winger himself, it was a no-brainer to come because I feel like I’ll progress really well here."
