Cambridge United midfielder Jordan Cousins will miss the rest of the season because of a hamstring injury suffered in training.

The 31-year-old has made 32 appearances in all competitions in 2024-25, the most recent in their 1-0 derby defeat by Peterborough United on 15 March, scoring once.

He was not available for Saturday's 1-1 draw at Barnsley as the relegation-threatened U's ended a run of four successive defeats.

"This is just another in a long line of injuries that has gone on for 10 months now, and we need to adjust moving forwards," boss Neil Harris told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire.

Harris' side would have taken all three points at Oakwell, but for Barnsley's added-time equaliser.

They are 12 points from safety in League One with just eight games left to play - the next at home to Northampton Town on Saturday.

"We''ve gone from being a 60-minute team to a 90-minute team and what we've got to do is be a team that finishes and wins the game as well. That was all that was missing," said Harris.

"It was a really strong performance for 91 and a half minutes. We defended our box diligently, we won one v ones, our shape was outstanding and game understanding was excellent, it was just in that one moment we switched off again.

"I'm excited about the performance and what's to come in future months, but obviously it hurts that we conceded so late."
