Plymouth Argyle winger Ibrahim Cissoko will be out until January after having surgery on a hip injury.

The 21-year-old Netherlands Under-21 player has been one of Argyle's most impressive players this season.

Cissoko suffered the injury in the 5-0 loss at Cardiff City where he was sent off in the first half.

He has scored three goals in 12 games since joining on loan from French side Toulouse in the summer.

Cissoko joins a mounting injury list which includes captain Joe Edwards, goalkeeper Conor Hazard and defenders Lewis Gibson and Brendan Galloway.

"It's a big blow for us, a big loss," head coach Wayne Rooney told BBC Radio Devon.

"He did it in the Cardiff game when he got sent off.

"He hasn't trained since then, we sent him for scans and unfortunately it's come back that he'll need surgery and he'll be out until January."

It means Rooney could turn to either Mustapha Bundu or youngsters Tegan Finn or Freddie Issaka to come in and replace Cissoko.

"I think he's a really important player for us, but it's an opportunity for other players to come in and hopefully they can take them," Rooney added.
