Ipswich Town goalkeeper Christian Walton is determined to continue making the most of his opportunity for regular action in the Championship.
The 30-year-old was first-choice in 2022-23 when the Tractor Boys won promotion from League One but has spent a lot of time on the bench since then.
His appearance in Saturday's 4-1 win at Swansea was only his sixth of the current campaign, a chance afforded by a calf injury Alex Palmer suffered last month.
"The demands we put on ourselves as players, the demands the manager puts on us, obviously in my situation, (goalkeeping coach) Rene (Gilmartin) puts on me, it stands you in good stead for when you do get a chance to go and perform," Walton told BBC Radio Suffolk.
"That's what I've done - I like to think I did well last year when I stepped in and I want to do more of that this season."
Ipswich were only 2-1 ahead when Walton made a brilliant save to keep out a header from Swansea's Ben Cabango.
He said: "It was a bit of a blur, to be honest, but it was a really good save and I was delighted to make it.
"The first half was quite a quiet afternoon for me but it was just about making sure I was focused and dialled in for those moments. You never know, they were obviously going to have a chance at some point and you've got to be ready when it comes."
The victory was Ipswich's second in a row on the road by the same impressive scoreline and included a first goal for the club for Spanish striker Ivan Azon.
The 22-year-old has been used mainly as a substitute since arriving on loan from Italian Serie A club Como in the summer.
"I think the fans are delighted for him, and we're delighted for him - it's a big moment for him because he works really hard when he comes off the bench, and in the games he's started," said Walton.
"He's determined, hard-working and got all the attributes to succeed at this level and it was a nice goal for him to get things moving."
Walton spared a thought for former Ipswich defender Cameron Burgess, now with Swansea, who inadvertently contributed two own goals to the win.
"It's a tough moment for him, but he's top player," he added.
