Guernsey FC moved out of the Isthmian League South Central relegation places with a 1-0 win over Ashford Town at Footes Lane.
The Green Lions gave a debut to teenage AFC Bournemouth goalkeeper Will Seeley, who joined the club on loan with Josh Addison injured and both Seb Sheppard and Lucas Hanley unavailable.
Seeley kept a clean sheet as the Green Lions earned a key victory against Ashford, who are second-from-bottom of the table.
Ross Allen scored the game's only goal in the 55th minute as he reacted quickest after Fin du Port's initial shot was saved.
Sam Murray had a second goal disallowed soon after with Allen ruled to have been offside as he teed the ball up for his fellow forward.
The win moves Guernsey two points clear of the relegation zone with at least one game in hand on the four sides below them, but there next two matches are against second-placed Kingstonian and leaders Farnham Town.
"We try not to put too much emphasis on a game, but this one felt like a cup final," coach Kevin Gilligan told BBC Radio Guernsey.
"But we've got two hard games against first and second next, so we wanted to get as many points as we could.
"They're a tough opponent, we were on the wrong end of a 5-0 against them a couple of weeks ago, but we learnt a lot from that and were able to turn around today."
