Swindon Town sign defender Billy Kirkman

Swindon Town have signed defender Billy Kirkman from Welsh side The New Saints in a permanent deal.

Kirkman signed his first professional contract with TNS in the summer of 2022 and last season made 29 appearances for them across all competitions as a left-back and in left midfield.

"I'm excited to get started and of course, it's my first taste of English football," Kirkman said..

Swindon Town begin their League Two campaign on Friday night when they travel to Chesterfield.

Town's head of football Jamie Russell provided some insight as to what the club's supporters can expect from their latest recruit.

"Billy has plenty of potential to develop into a top player at this level of English football." Russell said.

"He works incredibly hard and enjoys getting forward and creating opportunities in the final third.

"As a development player and one we see a positive future, we are looking forward to working with him and supporting him in the next part of his career."
