Bristol Rovers boss Inigo Calderon says he is happy with the club's committee approach to signing players.

Calderon, who was appointed head coach on Boxing Day after serving as Brighton & Hove Albion's Under-18s manager, said "everybody" in the club's senior hierarchy is involved in the process.

No names were specifically mentioned by Calderon, but the club have been keen to promote their recruitment structure as being primarily based around the relationship between the head coach and director of football George Friend.

"I think we are good in that," the 41-year-old Spaniard told BBC Radio Bristol's Having a Gas show when asked who has the final say over transfers.

"Everybody has their part, it's not just one deciding. Everybody listens to everyone - I think that's the most important thing.

"Obviously, someone has to make the decision but all the opinions are considered and you feel you have a voice in that.

"I think that's key because as many voices as we have, if we respect each other, it's going to be even better and beneficial for the football club."

Rovers signed 33-year-old experienced midfielder Romaine Sawyers on Wednesday and Calderon also believes it's important to reintegrate players who were less involved before he took over two weeks ago.

Winger Luke Thomas scored the winner at Cambridge United last weekend having been in and out of the team under Calderon's predecessor Matt Taylor, while midfielder Grant Ward has completed 90 minutes in each of the last two games after also being limited in his involvement over the first half of the campaign.

"As I said to the boys when I arrived here, everybody will have their chance. All the players in the squad have the chance to play," he added.

"For me, that was the best market because there were a few players that were not too happy before because they were not playing… but the fact was they were not performing at the level.

"I think there are a few players that now are performing better than before, so I think we recovered a couple of players, so that means we have more bodies in the building.

"For me, that's the best signing you can do - the ones who are not performing well, now they are better."

Rovers, who are 20th in League One and five points above the relegation zone, travel to face Ipswich in the FA Cup third round on Sunday, before welcoming Barnsley in the league the following weekend.
