Captain Justham leaves Dagenham & Redbridge

Elliot Justham made more than 350 appearances for Dagenham & Redbridge

Dagenham & Redbridge club captain and goalkeeper Elliot Justham has left the club with immediate effect.

The 34-year-old made more than 350 appearances for the National League club and leaves by "mutual consent".

Justham has played 31 times this season, including in his side's FA Cup third-round defeat by Millwall.

"I think it's the right time for everyone involved. It's sad because to be here almost nine years, I'm very proud of myself to have stayed here through a lot of turbulence for the club - a lot of ownerships, a lot of managers," he said in an interview on the club's YouTube channel.

"It's the right time. I've been very proud to captain this club. I'm proud of my legacy and I hope people see that, too."

Justham moved to the Daggers from Luton Town in 2016 and the club reached the National League play-offs in his first season.

His last appearance was in Tuesday's 2-0 defeat at home by Forest Green Rovers, which left the East Londoners 16th in the table.

"His commitment, work ethic, and presence in the dressing room were invaluable, guiding younger players and providing a reliable last line of defence in goal," the club said in a statement.

"While this marks the end of Elliot's time with Dagenham & Redbridge, we are incredibly grateful for everything he has given to this club and for the loyalty he has shown over the years.

His leadership, talent, and dedication have left a lasting legacy, and he will always be part of the Daggers family."

The club has signed Louis Jones from Doncaster Rovers as a replacement for an undisclosed fee.

The 26-year-old has penned a short-term contract until the end of the season.
