Ruben Amorim did a bit of deflecting to Jason Wilcox in his press conference before the trip to Fulham.

The Manchester United head coach didn't want to talk about transfers, saying that was an issue for Wilcox in his technical director role.

He used the same tactic later in his briefing when the conversation switched to Kobbie Mainoo.

The England international has not had a contract upgrade since he broke into the first team and conversations around the situation are presently deadlocked.

Mainoo's present deal expires in 2027 and it does seem strange this has not been extended given he started the Euro 2024 final for England and scored in the FA Cup final that spring.

However, he has struggled to maintain that form and the contract situation just adds to uncertainty over his future.

"That part is with Jason," said Amorim. "He has a contract. I haven't heard any news on that."
