Hibernian executive director Ian Gordon says his family will absorb the club's £7.2m losses this year.

Gordon told around 200 shareholders at the club's annual general meeting that the sum has been made as a loan but will be converted into a donation this summer.

"The club will be in a very healthy position, debt-free minus the Covid-19 loan from the government, but going into the summer we're feeling very positive about where we are financially and as a club," he said.

Gordon, who joined the board after father Ron's death in 2023, also spoke about the investment in the Leith club's infrastructure and the commitment from the Black Knight Group, who made a £6m last year for a 25% shareholding.

When asked if the recent departure of Ben Kensell as chief executive was linked in any way to the record loss, Gordon said: "No, we're moving in a new direction.

"We have a new senior management team in place, and now with alignment with Black Knight, we felt it was the best time as we move into this new chapter."
