Newport defender Davies out for rest of season

Newport County have been dealt a blow with defender Tom Davies set to miss the rest of the season – just two weeks after signing for the League Two club.
Davies, a Wales Under-21 international, made the move from Cardiff City on an 18-month deal a fortnight ago.
The 21-year-old had started all three games for Nelson Jardim's side since his switch from the Bluebirds, but was forced off during the midweek draw at Salford City.
Now Jardim has confirmed a hamstring problem is likely to see Davies sidelined until the summer.
"It's a big disappointment for us, we had a lot of faith in him," Jardim said.
"It's unfortunate for a young boy of 21; he's done well when he's played and he would have had a good chance in the next two or three months to develop.
"He will just have to now to be focused and make sure when he comes back he comes back stronger."
Left-back Davies, who can also play in midfield, was due to see his Cardiff deal expire at the end of the season having come through the club's academy.
He joined the Exiles after appearing in the Bluebirds' FA Cup third-round win at Sheffield United.
Jardim – who says midfielder Kai Whitmore should be clear to face Barrow on Saturday after he was also injured with a blow to the eye in the 1-1 draw – says he will now consider signing a replacement.
"We have an idea of what we need but is something doesn't happen then we will carry on," said the County head coach.
