Barrow sign Burton midfielder Whitfield permanently

Midfielder Ben Whitfield has returned to Barrow on a permanent contract after Burton Albion terminated his contract.
Whitfield, 29, had spent the second half of last season on loan at Barrow after joining the Brewers last summer.
He played 17 times for Barrow and contributed to seven goals.
Whitfield originally joined The Bluebirds in 2022 from Stockport and he made 91 appearances in his first spell, scoring 17 goals and providing 16 assists.
The Yorkshire-born Whitfield is happy to be back at Barrow after agreeing a two-year deal.
He told the club's website:, external "I'm delighted to be back for good, that's the main thing, and to sign for two years, yeah, I'm absolutely delighted."
