Connah’s Quay Nomads and Bala Town both suffered extra time heartbreak as they exited the Europa Conference League.

Nomads were undone by two late goals – one in normal time and the other in extra time – as they were beaten 2-1 on aggregate by FK Bravo.

Bala were also beaten in the first qualifying round having taking an early lead against Paide of Estonia through Nathan Peate which forced to extra time.

They were minutes away from penalties only to be denied by a goal in extra time stoppage time.

Connah’s Quay, Welsh Cup winners, had won the first leg 1-0 in Slovenia a week earlier and were two minutes away from securing their place in the second qualifying round.

Nemanja Jaksic’s fired home Matic Ivansek’s low cross with two minutes remaining to put the NK Bravo 1-0 up on the night at Bangor’s Nantporth Stadium to take the game into extra-time.

Tiredness took its toll on Nomads in extra-time with players suffering with cramp and defender Kai Edwards limping off with injury.

The Slovenian full-time side doubled their lead and wrap up a 2-1 aggregate win with five minutes of extra-time left through Matej Poplatnik’s header.

It was cruel on Neil Gibson's side who had put in a brave and courageous performance.

Nathan Peate's first half goal had given Bala the lead in Estonia

Bala had lost their first leg 2-1 at The New Saints’ Park Hall last week, but Josh Ukek’s stoppage time penalty had given the north Wales side a lifeline.

In the second leg, Osebi Abadaki fired over the crossbar for Bala early on before Colin Caton’s side levelled the tie on aggregate.

Captain Nathan Peate headed home Lassana Mendes’ corner to give the visitors a 1-0 lead in Estonia.

Mendes also fired for over the crossbar for Bala while Siim Luts went close with a header for the hosts.

George Newell headed wide with 20 minutes remaining, while Kieran Smith - back at Bala on a short-term deal - had his header saved by keeper Ebrima Jarju.

The hosts had chances to win the tie but Bala held out to take the game into extra-time, during which substitute Ukek went agonisingly close with a free-kick that flew past the post.

Bala had to play the final nine minutes of extra-time with 10 men, after Alex Downes was sent-off after receiving a second yellow card.

But with the game seemingly heading for penalties Bala hearts were broken in stoppage time when Oskar Hoim scored to level on the night and put his side through 3-2 on aggregate.
