Barnsley sign Blackburn full-back Gent

Georgie Gent scored once in 29 league appearances for Motherwell last season

Barnsley have signed Blackburn Rovers full-back Georgie Gent for an undisclosed fee on a three-year deal.

The 20-year-old spent last season on loan in the Scottish Premiership with Motherwell.

He could make his debut for the Tykes in their League One season-opener at home to Mansfield next Friday.

"We watched Georgie at Motherwell a lot last season and we feel he is a top prospect for the future," sporting director Mladen Sormaz told the club website.

Gent's deal includes the option of an extra year in the club's favour.
