Borussia Dortmund scored three goals in five minutes to cap 2024 with their first Bundesliga away win of the season in a convincing victory against Wolfsburg.

Donyell Malen kicked off the scoring when he gave Dortmund the lead after 25 minutes with an acrobatic finish from a corner.

Three minutes later, Dortmund doubled their lead at the Volkswagen Arena after Julian Brandt released Maximilian Beier and he was able to finish beyond Kamil Grabara.

Just two minutes later, it was Beier who turned provider when the Germany international set up compatriot Brandt to smash home for 3-0.

Ralph Hasenhuttl's home side were given slight hope after making it 3-1 in the second half when Denis Vavro rose highest to head in Maximilian Arnold's corner.

Dortmund put themselves under further pressure when former Brighton midfielder Pascal Gross was shown a red card for bringing down Lukas Nmecha when he was racing through on goal.

Nuri Sahin's side defended against waves of pressure from Wolfsburg but stood firm and are now sixth in the Bundesliga, two points behind fourth-placed RB Leipzig.

Dortmund will host defending champions Bayer Leverkusen when the league resumes on 10 January, while Wolfsburg will travel to Hoffenheim a day later.
