West Bromwich Albion have made their fourth summer signing by bringing in Northern Ireland international Paddy McNair on a half-season loan following his decision to join Major League Soccer side San Diego.
The 29-year-old former Sunderland and Middlesbrough defender, who began his career with Manchester United, had been without a club after his contract expired on Teesside on 30 June.
McNair is scheduled to remain at The Hawthorns until 31 December.
He follows the arrival at Albion of fellow defender Torbjorn Heggem, midfielder Ousmane Diakite and Derby County goalkeeper Joe Wildsmith.

"He is a player who has a lot of experience in this league with Sunderland and Middlesbrough. He’s played just under 350 career matches," said, external Albion head coach Carlos Corberan.
"He’ll add a lot of maturity and quality to our squad. He is capable of playing in a number of different positions which will be really helpful in a league as demanding as the Championship.”
