James McClean has signed a new contract to remain with Wrexham until the end of the 2026-27 season.

The 36-year-old has been a pivotal figure in the club's rise to the Championship since joining from Wigan Athletic in 2023 - the versatile wing-back featuring 89 times in his two seasons at the Stok Cae Ras to date while playing a starring role in two promotions.

Discussing his new deal, the former Republic of Ireland international said: "I'm delighted to be extending my contract with the club.

"It's no secret that I've enjoyed my time here and I want to help continue the success we've had so far.

"My family love it here, I love it here and we're excited for the future."

McClean - who won 103 caps for his country between 2012 and 2023 - was handed the captain's armband by boss Phil Parkinson as Wrexham gained automatic promotion from League One last season.

He made 45 appearances across all competitions during the course of the 2024-25 campaign.

On McClean's new deal, Parkinson said: "We're pleased to secure an extension to Jimmy's contract.

"He's an important player and character in the dressing room as we prepare for a historic season."
