Jersey's men have been beaten in the semi-finals of the Island Games football tournament after conceding twice at the end of extra time to lose 3-2 to Bermuda.

Kenny Mills and Jace Donawa scored in a two-minute spell in the final three minutes of extra time to inflict a first Island Games defeat on Jersey in more than a decade.

It means Jersey will face the Isle of Man for a bronze medal on Friday - the side who had inflicted their last loss on them in 2015.

Jersey had been the reigning champions having won gold in 2023 in Guernsey.

Harrison Moon gave Jersey a 12th-minute lead when he capitalised on a defensive error to fire home.

The dominant Channel Islanders felt they should have been 2-0 up 12 minutes later when Tom Goncalves' header appeared to cross the line but was not given by the officials.

Bermuda upped the pressure after the break as Harry Gladdish pulled off a good save from Donawa after an hour.

Soon after Bermuda had a goal disallowed as Donawa's shot came back off the bar and Mason Christian put the ball into the net, but the effort was ruled out for an offside in the build up.

The Bermuda pressure eventually told when substitute Andrew Armstrong broke through the Jersey defence and slotted past Gladdish into the bottom corner with seven minutes to go.

Jersey skipper Karl Hinds just failed to get on the end of a Nathan MacDonald pass with four minutes to go while Gladdish did well to deny the onrushing Joshua Joseph moments later as both sides tried to avoid extra time.

Five minutes into the first period of extra time Gladdish again proved to be Jersey's hero - Ewan Brodie brought down a Bermuda forward in the box - but the Jersey goalkeeper saved Hayden Dill's penalty and his rebound.

Gladdish again did well to save after a shot was deflected off Jersey defender Goncalves seven minutes later.

But with the first period of time almost at an end Jersey took the lead as Sonny Cassidy rifled home the rebound after Casey Nixon's shot had been saved.

Gladdish was again on hand to save his side as Hayden Mills and Amir Dill had chances after the interval, but he could do nothing when Mills lashed into the net in the 117th minute after he Gladdish saved from Armstrong.

And two minutes later Donawa cut inside onto his right foot, beat a defender and slotted into the bottom corner past the despairing Gladdish.

"It's a tough one to take being 2-1 up with five minutes to go," Jersey manager Jack Cannon told BBC Channel Islands.

"But you can't really argue with the last goal to be fair.

"We came into the tournament looking for progression from each player and we've exceeded expectations for ourselves and everyone back home as well.

"Now we've got to pick ourselves up, dust ourselves down and go again."
