Chelsea v Liverpool (Sat, 17:30 BST)

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Arne Slot on injuries: "Alisson is not part of the squad tomorrow and he won't travel to Brazil for the national team.

"Hugo [Eitike] is going to train again today, let's see where he is. The same can be said for Frederico [Chiesa].

"It depends on how fast the recovery goes.

"I will be surprised if he [Alisson] will be there for the first game after the international break. From there on things can go a bit faster a bit slower. It's difficult to say.

"I'm not a doctor so I cannot tell you if it is the same [hamstring injury]."

    Breaking

Chelsea v Liverpool (Sat, 17:30 BST)

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Arne Slot is here.

On Alisson he said it was "difficult" to put a timescale on his recovery from the hamstring injury he picked up against Galatasaray, but said he would not be joining up with Brazil and would probably not be ready in time for the first game back after the international break.

    More to follow.

Before we switched attention to Liverpool we were talking Nottingham Forest. While we wait for Arne Slot, let's fit in a few more comments on the subject of Ange Postecoglou:

People saying it's only been a month and the fans are embarrassing. It has been a year of a horror show at Tottenham beforehand. Oliver Glasner hasn't just swooped in and taken reins as I'm sure patience would be plentiful. It's just an unwanted appointment.

    M Clarke

There's always this sentiment that the manager needs time and I agree with it, after all Nuno was hardly a world class highly decorated manager before he joined. However, the problem persists with Ange that no one has any idea what he is being given time for. What's his plan?

Right, all these questions will be fired at Liverpool manager Arne Slot any minute now - the Dutchman is due to face the media shortly, to discuss Saturday's Premier League game at Stamford Bridge...

Chelsea v Liverpool (Sat, 17:30 BST)

    Liverpool

Giorgi Mamardashvili is in line for a Premier League debut at Stamford Bridge. The Georgian was signed from Valencia last summer for £29m, but was loaned back to Valencia for the 2024-25 season.

He kept eight clean sheets in 34 La Liga games last term.

  6. How many games did Alisson miss last season?published at 09:00 BST

Chelsea v Liverpool (Sat, 17:30 BST)

    Liverpool

Alisson missed 10 Premier League games last season with a hamstring injury.

He missed 18 games in all competitions the campaign before.

On both occasions Caoimhin Kelleher stood in for Alisson. That won't be a possibility this time around. Kelleher joined Brentford this summer.

  7. Alisson injury blowpublished at 08:59 BST

Chelsea v Liverpool (Sat, 17:30 BST)

    Liverpool

On Tuesday night, Liverpool manager Arne Slot confirmed goalkeeper Alisson will miss the game against Chelsea on Saturday.

The 32-year-old had to be replaced by Giorgi Mamardashvili in the 56th minute of Liverpool's 1-0 Champions League defeat in Istanbul.

Alisson limped off after saving from goalscorer Victor Osimhen, while striker Hugo Ekitike then pulled up after stretching for the ball and also had to be replaced.

Slot said the Brazil international had felt something when "sprinting back".

Chelsea v Liverpool (Sat, 17:30 BST)

    Liverpool

On Saturday, Liverpool's five-match winning start to the season was ended at Crystal Palace by Eddie Nketiah's 97th-minute winner for the Eagles.

And, on Tuesday night, Liverpool suffered their second successive defeat, losing at Galatasaray in the Champions League.

Head coach Arne Slot left talisman Mohamed Salah on the bench in Turkey, while goalkeeper Alisson went off injured in the second half.

Chelsea v Liverpool (Sat, 17:30 BST)

    Liverpool

Eddie Howe will not be the first Premier League manager we hear from this morning, that privilege falls to Reds boss Arne Slot, who is facing the media from around 09:00 BST.

Defending champions Liverpool are having a bit of a wobble, having lost their last two matches...

  10. Can Newcastle get some points and goals on the board?published at 08:50 BST

    Newcastle v Nott'm Forest (Sun, 14:00 BST)

    Newcastle United

Talking of Newcastle, we will be hearing from boss Eddie Howe from around 09:30 BST, before Sunday's match against Nottingham Forest.

The Magpies are looking for their second Premier League win of the season following their victory against Wolves in September.

Given the opposition, who are yet to win in six matches under new boss Postecoglou, Howe will see this as a golden opportunity to climb into the top half of the table.

Not only climbing the table, but seeing some goals too, would be a huge boost of confidence for the squad given that no team has scored less goals than Newcastle in the opening seven matches of the Premier League

AJ: Reply to Josh, as fans we have the right to voice our opinion. It's hard not to get disheartened given the fact we've just come off the back of our best season in over 30 years. Yes, he may need time but he won't get it unless results pick up.

Problem is, next few games are Newcastle, Porto and then Chelsea. If we lose all three, which unfortunately looks very likely, I can’t see him staying. Question then is, who could come in?

  12. Postecoglou - the story so farpublished at 08:39 BST

    Nottingham Forest

    • Last season Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo guides the club to seventh in the Premier League - their highest finish since 1994-95 - and helps them qualify for Europe for the first time in three decades.
    • Ange Postecoglou's Tottenham finish 17th but they do win the Europa League to end the club's long trophy drought. Postecoglou is then sacked in the summer.
    • At the start of this season Nuno publicly declares his relationship with owner Evangelos Marinakis has deteriorated.
    • In September, Nuno is sacked as Forest manager after 21 months in charge - and just three games into the season.
    • Postecoglou is quickly named his replacement but loses his opening game in charge at former foes Arsenal - results after that fail to pick up.
    • At the end of September, West Ham appoint Nuno as their new manager.
    • In October, during a loss to Danish side Midtjylland at the City Ground, home supporters chant "you're getting sacked in the morning" towards Postecoglou and sing in support of Nuno as Forest make it six games without a win under the Australian.

We've been poor defensively since Ange came in, but we've also not had Aina or Murillo for most games - we'd have struggled without them under Nuno. Can't blame Ange for that.

More from Ange Postecoglou after Forest's defeat: "My responsibility is to make sure we get some wins for this football club and progress it.

"I would prefer if people were optimistic in their outlook of what I'm doing. I can only change that by winning games of football.

"Irrespective, that's not going to change the way I'm taking things on. I really believe in the process of what we're doing and I don't think we're far away from being the team that can eradicate the situation we're in at the moment and get the results."

I was embarrassed by our fans last night. How many were at the CG in League One? Yes, we loved Nuno. Yes, it's tough to lose these games. Football is fine margins and Ange has had less than 10 days on the training pitch. Patience!!

    Josh

Forest weren't good enough to qualify for the Europa League last season, they should be in the Conference League, so it's no surprise they didn't win last night. Saying that, Ange needs time.

We know that Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis is not afraid to make swift changes if he feels things are not working.

At Olympiacos he sacked ex-Huddersfield manager Carlos Corberan after just 48 days as head coach, while Nuno's departure came weeks after he signed a new three-year deal.

Now the spotlight falls on Ange Postecoglou.

"I feel he will get extra time because he was appointed by the owner," former Forest and West Ham striker Michail Antonio said on TNT Sports.

"He will give him extra time to get his philosophy going, because right now it feels he is struggling to get his tactics across to the players."

Former Forest and Leicester boss Martin O'Neill added: "Wins are the name of the game - it is as simple as that.

"The crowd were already against him in many aspects, but we are six games in, you'd hardly know the name of the tea lady after that amount of time."

On the boos, O'Neill added: "You have to deal with all the noise around you. You can't allow it to dictate everything, but you can't avoid it."

It ended with Nottingham Forest fans chanting against their new manager, who was sacked by Tottenham Hotspur in June, and singing in praise of his predecessor Nuno Espirito Santo.

I really cant see what Ange is trying to build. We had a great structure under Nuno and every player knew what their job role was. We are regressing, not progressing under Ange. Sorry. but it's time to go before it gets worse.
