Aston Villa have won their last two matches against Chelsea, both away from home. They haven’t won three in a row against them in all competitions since a run of four between 1978 and 1984, while they last registered three in a row against them at Stamford Bridge between January 1959 and December 1960.
Chelsea have won 40 of their last 47 FA Cup matches at Stamford Bridge (D5 L2) and have won each of their last eight in a row by an aggregate score of 24-3 since a 2-0 defeat to Man Utd in February 2019.
Aston Villa ended a run of eight consecutive FA Cup defeats with a 1-0 win at Championship side Middlesbrough in this season’s third round. They have, however, lost their last seven away FA Cup matches against Premier League teams, with their last such win coming at Everton in the 1999-00 quarter-final.
Raheem Sterling has been directly involved in 19 goals in his last 20 starts in the FA Cup (10 goals, 9 assists), scoring and assisting in Chelsea’s 4-0 win over Preston in the third round. He also scored in his last appearance against Aston Villa in the competition in a 4-0 win for Man City in January 2016.
