    Walsall 0-0 AFC Wimbledon

Walsall have made four changes to their line-up which started last Saturday's goalless draw at Gillingham with David Okagbue and Taylor Allen helping form Mat Sadler's back three this afternoon.

They are likely to face a stern test against AFC Wimbledon's front two of Marcus Browne and Matty Stevens.

A big early goal at the bottom of League One as Caylan Vickers gives the Stags the lead.

A win for either of these today would surely be enough to secure League One football?

  4. Postpublished at 15:01 Greenwich Mean Time 29 March

    Cambridge United 0-0 Northampton

Cambridge United are unchanged for this must-win game.

Northampton have made one change from the side which lost to Blackpool last time out with Nesta Guinness-Walker in for Tyler Magloire and Tom Eaves is back from injury to take a place on the bench.

    Birmingham 0-0 Shrewsbury

No Krystian Bielik, even on the bench, for Blues today. No word as to why that is as yet.

Michael Appleton has brought in John Marquis for his first starting line-up as Salop boss - he caused Blues untold problems in the reverse fixture in November, scoring in that epic 3-2 win.

Wycombe Wanderers are involved in an arm wrestle with Wrexham for that second automatic promotion spot and the Chairboys come up against a Lincoln City side who have lost their past two on the road.

Reading are just two points adrift of the play-off spots but will be wary of a resurgent Peterborough United who are unbeaten in four games and stuck three past Charlton last weekend.

At the bottom, victory for Bristol Rovers over Mansfield Town would jump them above their opponents and ease their relegation fears. The Stags ended a 13-game wait for a league win when beating Barnsley a fortnight ago.

Wigan Athletic and Barnsley look resigned to another season in League One, although the Latics may still have a bit of work to do to secure their place as they host the Yorkshire side.

Crawley Town made a winning start under returning boss Scott Lindsey last weekend, but they're nine points from safety ahead of a trip to a Rotherham United side limping towards the finish line

The biggest mismatch of the day, on paper, but since when were League One games played on paper.

Blues look every inch champions elect, sitting nine points clear of Wrexham with two games in hand, while they have an even healthier lead in the race for automatic promotion, 12 points ahead of Wycombe with an extra game to play too.

Shrewsbury are rock-bottom, 55 points worse off and effectively 15 points from safety, given their inferior goal difference, with nine games left to play.

Despite a run of one point from their past seven games, Salop boss Gareth Ainsworth was prised away somewhat acrimoniously by League Two Gillingham on Tuesday, with Michael Appleton (pictured) appointed in his stead the following day.

Anything other than a ninth straight home win for City would be an almighty shock, but, this if the EFL, remember.

Town ran out 3-2 winners in the reverse fixture in Ainsworth’s first game at the helm on 23 November – one of only three defeats Chris Davies’ men have suffered all season, all of them on the road.

If they can repeat the feat today it would complete Shrewsbury's first double over Blues in 34 years.

    Exeter v Wrexham (15:00 GMT)

Phil Parkinson on the touchlineImage source, Rex Features

Back-to-back wins over promotion rivals Wycombe and Stockport have finally given Wrexham a smidge of a cushion in the push for automatic promotion.

Phil Parkinson's men are three points clear of the Chairboys with eight games to play, and having won four of their past five in total, all by a 1-0 scoreline.

St James Park is not the easiest place to go at present, Exeter are looking to make it three straight home wins for the first time in more than two years and have kept clean sheets in each of the past two.

The Grecians are on a six-game unbeaten run to haul themselves away from trouble at the wrong end, but no side have picked up more points on the road since the turn of the year than the Red Dragons.

Wrexham have taken 15 points from a possible 18 on their travels and have conceded only twice in those six games.

Another 1-0 incoming for Parkinson (pictured)? We'll soon find out...

  10. History in the making as old foes reunitedpublished at 14:50 Greenwich Mean Time 29 March

    Blackpool v Bolton (15:00 GMT)

Bolton and Blackpool handshakesImage source, Rex Features

This is quite simply one of the most evocative fixtures in English football... The Matthews Final, Stan Mortensen's hat-trick sealing a 4-3 win in one of the great FA Cup Finals in 1953, plus well over 100 meetings since the grand old teams first locked horns in 1896.

The West Lancashire rivalry resumes at Bloomfield Road this afternoon, with plenty at stake in the League One play-off race.

The Trotters are in the midst an untimely wobble, a point outside the top six after losing their past two under Steve Schumacher.

Steve Bruce's Tangerines have a proud record in this fixture, going unbeaten in their past 14 meetings on home turf in all competitions, though they went down 2-1 in the reverse fixture in November courtesy of Aaron Collins' 94th-minute clincher.

A win today would take Blackpool within three points of Wanderers and keep alive their own slender hopes of gatecrashing the play-off places in the run-in.

A victory for Bolton would be their first at their old foes since December 1977 and would complete their first double over their rivals since that same season.

    Do not miss this one...

Cambridge United v Northampton Town (15:00 GMT)

Cambridge United boss Neil HarrisImage source, Rex Features

Stranger things have happened in football but Cambridge United's four-year stay in League One looks to be over.

There are 12 points between the U's and safety with only eight games remaining - not impossible but, well, you know...

"The position was tough when I came in, it's even tougher now, but we have to find a way to win games," said boss Neil Harris, who returned for a second stint in charge in February.

The other issue for Cambridge is they still have to play four of the top six.

This is a day worth marking for Northampton Town as they hit 5,000 league games.

There has been a fair bit of water under the bridge over the years, including a rise for one season into the top flight.

Kevin Nolan is the man entrusted with securing their League One status for another season and with a six-point buffer to the drop zone the job is almost complete.

Two defeats from their past six outings has given a feel of consistency and doing just enough to keep out of serious trouble.

Victory at The Abbey Stadium today would be their 1,914th and maybe the one that gets them over the line.

  12. Stuttering leaders Walsall host AFC Wimbledon in top of table clashpublished at 14:47 Greenwich Mean Time 29 March

Walsall v AFC Wimbledon (15:00 GMT)

Walsall's seeming procession to the League Two title has threatened to come off the rails entirely recently and they come into today's crucial top of the table clash with AFC Wimbledon winless in their past six in the league, their longest streak without a win of the season.

Third-placed Wimbledon arrive in slightly better form but have shown recent flaws of their own, winning two and losing three of their previous six, having lost three of their prior 21 League Two matches combined.

They have however won three of their past four against today's hosts - scoring 10 goals in that time.

Walsall will hope the return to fitness of Birmingham City loanee George Hall, following a four-month injury lay-off, will kickstart the Saddlers hopes of gaining promotion having been top of the table since early December.

Business taken care of for Charlton and Stockport, who go into the run-in with a healthy cushion in the race for the play-offs.

Burton could find themselves even further behind the eight-ball by five o'clock.

Their 2-1 defeat by Stockport keeps them six points adrift of safety with Bristol Rovers and Northampton Town both having the chance to stretch away later.

Burton's cause isn't helped by the fact their next two games are at home to Leyton Orient and away at Wrexham.

Against the odds Walsall remain top of the pile after Bradford's stalemate at Accrington.

It is a point and you would rather have a point then no points.

There was a lack of chances from City today.

There is not very much we can say about the performance other than we were a little bit blunt in attack.

Accrington were happy to make it very difficult for Bradford, we have seen the likes of Gillingham and Tranmere fighting for their lives, and they know if they can get the a point or three it is something they can build on for next season.

  19. FULL-TIMEpublished at 14:32 Greenwich Mean Time 29 March

    Stockport 2-1 Burton

A goal in each half from Kyle Wootton and Isaac Olaofe gets the job done for Stockport, but they were given a nervy last few minutes by Burton thanks to Julian Larsson's first EFL goal.

It got even worse for the home side when Ethan Pye was dismissed in stoppage time and the ensuing free-kick pinged around their area before being cleared.

The Hatters now have an eight-point cushion inside the play-off places ahead of the later games.

Burton could find themselves even further adrift of safety come five o'clock having started the day six points in the mire.
