Port Vale put in a fantastic team performance as they beat promotion-chasing Barnsley 2-0 to make it three wins from three League One games.

The hosts dominated the ball in the first half but it was Vale who looked more likely to take the lead with Jaheim Headley coming close after 10 minutes.

Caylan Vickers came the closest for the Reds just before the hour mark after dribbling into the box, but his strike hit the side netting.

Home goalkeeper Murphy Cooper was called into action yet again after 61 minutes, denying Dajaune Brown twice from close range before Ben Garrity fired over the crossbar.

Jordan Lawrence-Gabriel gave Darren Moore's side a deserved lead four minutes later, poking home a Brown cross from the left.

Vale doubled their lead at the death thanks to a wonderful Ryan Croasdale strike from 20 yards.

In response Barnsley did not register a shot on target throughout the 90 minutes and fell to their first home defeat of the season.
