"I'm excited by the challenge on Thursday and for the players to go and play well and perform.

Linfield manager David Healy says the board are "at their wits' end" after the club were fined 12,000 euro for spectator misconduct in Champions League qualifying against Shelbourne.

On Thursday, Linfield were fined 10,000 euro (£8,727) for "racist and/or discriminatory behaviour of its supporters" and 2,000 euro (£1,745) by Uefa for the lighting of fireworks in Windsor Park during the second leg on 16 July.

The Irish Premiership champions were also handed a partial stadium ban in Europe, suspended for two years.

Healy said a "very small minority" had "let the club down", and emphasised the vast majority of supporters make up "a brilliant fan base".

"I know the chairman and the board are at their wits' end at times with how we can control someone who is going to come into a football ground and say, sing or throw whatever, when it's basically been put to them that it's costing the football club," Healy told BBC Sport NI.

"It's costing the players and it's costing us the opportunity of potentially building up a few pound in the pot.

"I would urge supporters to get behind us in the correct way and the Linfield way, like they have done for 140 years."

A spectacular second-half strike from Sean McAllister earned Dungannon Swifts an impressive 1-0 away victory over Liechtenstein's FC Vaduz in the first leg of their Uefa Conference League second qualifying round tie.

McAllister found the net with a magnificent long-range effort in the 54th minute to put the Irish Cup winners in the driving seat before next Thursday's second leg, which will be played at Solitude in Belfast.

It was a first-ever European victory on the road for the Irish Premiership side, 18 years on from their last appearance in continental competition.

The 22-year-old match-winner was one of Swifts manager Rodney McAree's summer acquisitions, the midfielder returning to Stangmore Park after being released by Everton, having spent five years with the Premier League club.

Carla Devine scored a hat-trick as Cliftonville fought back from a goal down to secure a historic 3-1 win over KFF Mitrovica in the Champions League.

Kosovan side Mitrovica took the lead when Aurora Mulliqi netted in first-half injury time.

Devine took the game to extra-time when she equalised in the 84th minute, and the forward netted twice in extra-time to book the Reds' spot in the Group Six final.

The Solitude outfit had key winger Kirsty McGuinness sent off in the closing stages for a second yellow card but Cliftonville held on for a famous win.

It is a first Women's Champions League win for Cliftonville, who booked their place in the competition by clinching the league with a 100% win rate in 2024.

The victory also caps a remarkable month after the Reds won the League Cup by beating Glentoran 4-2 in the final.

The Reds also defeated the same opponents to blow open the Women's Premiership title race.

The north Belfast side will now take on Georgian opponents Lanchkhuti in the Group Six final on Saturday in Prishtina.

Larne defender Tomas Cosgrove says the Irish Premiership side "need to keep the ball better" in Thursday's Uefa Conference League second qualifying round second leg against Prishtina in Kosovo.

The east Antrim side were held to a goalless draw in the first leg of their tie at Ballymena Showgrounds last week.

"It was a weird game. We did well for 65 minutes and were disappointed we didn't score a few goals," said Cosgrove.

"We ended up with 0-0 and we were happy about it because we really hung on towards the end.

"It's a massive game on Thursday night. We know what we did right in the game and we know what we did wrong so we'll try to address that."

Cosgrove believes Nathan Rooney's side must dictate the pace of the game more in the second leg.

"They are a good team. They are at the same stage of the season as us but they kept the ball really well.

"We need to keep the ball a bit more, have a bit more belief.

"I think we were trying to force it and go for goal every time rather than recycling the ball and slowing the game down to our tempo."

It could be a huge night for Irish Premiership clubs in Europe as Larne, Dungannon Swifts and Linfield all stand a good chance to progress in the Uefa Conference League.

Irish Cup winners Dungannon Swifts pulled off a huge win away to FC Vaduz last week and just need a draw to reach the next round.

Larne and Linfield both drew in their respective first legs and will also fancy their chances of getting through.
