The Cobblers sitting just a couple of places outside of the bottom four, but buoyed by that tremendous win against Huddersfield last weekend.

Northampton are trying to utilise the long throw of Mitch Pinnock when they have the chance.

They've not come to too much thus far, but one to keep an eye on.

Neither side has been able to have a really sustained spell of pressure in this first half.

Caylan Vickers, who joined Mansfield on loan from Brighton earlier this week, has perhaps looked the most likely to create something.

He puts a teasing ball in from the left but Northampton goalkeeper Nik Tzanev gets there ahead of Jordan Rhodes.

From the next Mansfield attack, Vickers shoots just over from 12 yards with his left foot.

It looks like it might be a 4-4-2 with Caylan Vickers just off Jordan Rhodes slightly.

Let's see what these two new boys can do linking together up top.

Indeed, Lee Gregory can't continue.

He is walking off though, so hopefully that's a good sign about the severity of the injury.

On comes Jordan Rhodes for his Mansfield debut.

Mansfield striker Lee Gregory has gone down with an injury.

Looks like he's getting some treatment to his knee - he limped for a little while before signalling to the bench that he needed some assistance.

May be his night's work is over.

Mansfield's Aaron Lewis is the first player to be booked for a high challenge on Terry Taylor.

The other thing about the penalty miss is it just gets the home crowd back up and behind their team even more now.

This is Nolan's first managerial role since he left Notts County in 2018, although after that he spent a lot of time on the coaching staff at West Ham.

A few of the fans in the crowd were shining lights, torches on their phone, but I think if you are standing up for a penalty you are oblivious to what's going on behind the goal.

Often they just look at the goalkeeper nowadays.

Christy Pym went the right way but was not called upon to make a save.

The Stags began the season with six wins in their first nine, they looked like real promotion contenders, but have really lost their way of late.

A nervy moment for Northampton goalkeeper Nik Tzanev, who flaps a little bit at a ball in from corner. Luckily for him, it fell to safety.

Jordan Rhodes is one of the English Football League's most prolific strikers of recent times and he could make his debut from the bench for Mansfield this evening after joining the Stags on loan from Blackpool.

Rhodes, who turned 35 earlier this week, has scored almost 250 career goals.

The striker spoke to BBC East Midlands Today earlier this week about his move on deadline day.

Mansfield debutant Caylan Vickers does well to get a cross in from the left and Keanu Baccus has a tame shot from 20 yards which is easily cleared.

Then Lucas Akins tries his luck from the edge of the box but it's a long way over the bar.

Northampton seem to slow things down when it comes to throw ins, but it seems all set up to be a good game.

I say a decade... probably a lot more actually. Need to keep reminding myself we're in 2025 now!

Anyway, on the field, not too much to report. A couple of penalty area scrambles but nothing to trouble either keeper.

Very strange seeing Jordan Bowery wearing number nine while playing in the centre of defence for Mansfield.

Of course, he has played as an attacking player for much of his career, hence the shirt number.

Reminds me of when William Gallas wore 10 for Arsenal about a decade ago.
