Jonathan: The Portugal v Denmark game is tremendous. Brilliant football punctuated with utter garbage. The Dias attempted back pass, Ronaldo’s penalty along with the o.g. and Schmeichel’s terrible decision-making has made for a terrific game.

I think people are understandably a bit sceptical of decisions by governing bodies over the years and so thought the Nations League was a waste of time. But as well as giving us games between the bigger teams, it also means team lower down get a chance to play more attacking games and improve as a result (rather than just defending like they do in the qualifiers). Look at how various teams have improved a lot, e.g. Georgia, San Marino.
