Stuttgart secured their fourth German Cup on Saturday

Third-division side Arminia Bielefeld saw their hopes of a fairytale ending to their stunning run to the German Cup final ended by top-flight Stuttgart in Berlin.

The minnows had seen off four Bundesliga teams - including last season's league and cup winners Bayer Leverkusen - to set up the unexpected chance to win silverware at the Olympiastadion.

But Stuttgart scored three goals in 13 first-half minutes to shatter Arminia Bielefeld's dreams.

Nick Woltemade opened the scoring in the 15th minute before strikes by Enzo Millot and Deniz Undav had Stuttgart in control.

Millot got his second of the game in the 66th minute but Arminia Bielefeld's hopes were reignited when they scored twice in the closing stages.

Julian Kania drove into the roof of the net three minutes before Josha Vagnoman headed into his own goal to reduce the deficit to two.

Both goals were cheered loudly by the Arminia Bielefeld fans but Stuttgart held their nerve to secure the trophy.

Arminia Bielefeld, though, can be proud of their run as they made history by becoming the first third-division side to score in a German Cup final.
