When the team came out, we were all a little unsure, but the head coach been been vindicated.

Within himself he will be very happy, without shoving it down anyone's throat.

  2. Hickey a 'huge bonus'published at 12:26 BST 7 September

You can't underestimate the impact Aaron Hickey made.

He recognises danger, he brings so much.

    He is a huge bonus.

Hold a back line nothing stupid, midfield want to work hard and watch position, forwards plenty of running and take your chances when they come.

    Kenneth

As was stated by the BBC Scotland commentators, excellent defensive show, but just, to me something not right up front and slightly in midfield. I think there was a misplacement of McTominay, his input was reduced very much.

    Russell

We need goals. Our defence was excellent against the Danes, so no changes there, but we need to shoot on site, keep pressure on them increase our possession but in final third shoot, shoot, shoot. We have excellent back-up. We will use it. Goal difference could be our downfall, we need to be solid at the back but work hard up front. Use the wings, use the crosses, create openings to shoot and follow up. Go for it.

    James

How exactly was Hanley immense v Denmark?...it is surely a prerequisite for a professional football player to defend...Hanley done absolutely nothing of note...He has had 11 starts in club football since 22-23...but 14 starts for Scotland...its the emperors' new clothes syndrome here...let's all agree with Steve Clarke...it's astonishing this hyperbole over a poor quality player.

    Steven Thompson
    Former Scotland striker on Sportsound

Che Adams and Lyndon Dykes had their press to a tee, and pressing starts from the front.

A someone who has done that many, many times, it can be difficult.

But their work-rate, especially, was phenomenal.

  6. Speaking of draws...published at 12:16 BST 7 September

    Scotland got one on Friday.

As we listen back to the sounds of Friday, have a wee read of the words, too.

Stubborn Scotland kicked off their quest for a first World Cup appearance since 1998 with a potentially precious point against Denmark at a raucous Parken Stadium.

  7. What's Belarus' record in Zaelaegerszeg?published at 12:13 BST 7 September

    In short, pretty steady.

After the Uefa sanction was imposed, it was then up to the Belarusian FA to find a suitable stadium to host their matches. They chose Zalaegerszeg, around 227km from the Hungarian capital Budapest.

In the three games they've played there since the ban was enforced, each have ended in a Nations League draw.

Goalless against Bulgaria and Northern Ireland, with a 1-1 draw with Luxembourg, too.

  8. Why are Scotland playing Belarus in Hungary?published at 12:10 BST 7 September

Back in June, Uefa confirmed the match would take place in the ZTE Arena in the Hungarian city of Zalaegerszeg.

As a result of the support shown by Belarus to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, there were calls for a ban on their teams competing in Uefa competitions, as has been the case for all senior Russian teams since March 2022.

In March of that year, Uefa announced that all Belarusian clubs and national teams participating in their competitions would have to play their home matches at neutral venues and behind closed doors with no fans.

    Former Scotland forward on Sportsound

With a smaller group, it is so important to get off to a good start and to do that against a top, tough team away, is a really good start.

Now it's about following that up against Belarus which will be a different challenge with no fans.
