Kevin O'Hara's stunning long-range strike sent Hamilton on the way to victory

Kevin O'Hara's spectacular strike helped Hamilton Academical to a first-leg win in their Scottish Championship play-off final against Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

Striker O'Hara opened the scoring for the hosts in six minutes with a stunning effort from 35 yards that flew into the net as goalkeeper Mark Ridgers back-pedalled helplessly towards his line.

Third-tier Hamilton were two up midway through the first half when Fergus Owens rattled the crossbar then followed up to nod the rebound over the line.

Inverness hit back to halve the deficit 22 minutes from time through Aribim Pepple, before Michael Hewitt and O'Hara both missed late chances to restore Hamilton's two-goal cushion.

The sides meet in the second leg at the Caledonian Stadium on Saturday (17:30 BST), live on BBC Alba and the BBC Sport website and app.
