Liverpool were left frustrated in their opening game of the Women's Super League after a determined Leicester fought back to earn a point.
Sophie Roman Haug, Liverpool's top scorer last season, gave the Reds a deserved lead on the stroke of half-time.
But Leicester, under the guidance of new manager Amandine Miquel, were resilient, organised and refused to lie down.
The Foxes equalised eight minutes after the break with a clinical strike from Jutta Rantala.
Liverpool had started on the front foot in their first match at St Helens' Totally Wicked Stadium, their home for the majority of the 2024-25 campaign.
Foxes goalkeeper Lize Kop tipped a fine shot from Ceri Holland over the bar then saved well from Marie Hobinger.
Liverpool opened the scoring when Norway forward Haug peeled away from Sophie Howard at a corner and headed in Hobinger's delivery at the back post.
However, Matt Beard's side were caught napping when Taylor Hinds failed to cut out Yuka Momiki's cross-field pass to Rantala and the Finnish striker angled a crisp low finish beyond Rachael Laws.
Liverpool, who did the double over Leicester in the WSL last season, looked the most likely side to win it in the remainder of the contest and Gemma Bonner headed over from a good position.
However, the Reds breathed a sigh of relief when the flag was raised for offside after Ruby Mace headed in late on.
