Cody Gakpo feeds Milos Kerkez down the left as Liverpool break at speed, then rushes into the box but sees his point-blank header saved by Unai Simon.

Mo Salah overpowers Mikel Jauregizar to win back possession in midfield, but he's wiped out Inigo Ruiz de Galarreta. Salah is not pleased with that one at all, but eventually accepts Galarreta's apology.

Jeremie Frimpong beats his man and Liverpool are off again down the right.

The 'right-back' is involved again inside the box and passes to Mo Salah, who tees up Hugo Ekitike - but his low shot is saved by Unai Simon.

Early this evening, Liverpool's second youngest ever player Rio Ngumoha shone again in pre-season.

The England Under-17 forward, who turns 17 later this month, scored and assisted in the first match of their Anfield return against Athletic Bilbao, which they won 4-1.

Having scored in just the second minute as he ran onto a loose ball in his own half before racing forward and curling a fine effort in from 20 yards out, he nodded a Ben Doak cross down for Darwin Nunez to convert from close range just three minutes later.

He left to a standing ovation midway through the second half following a performance which will have left many fans wondering if he could be part of the first team this year.

Great first half.

Mohamed Salah announced his Anfield return with a goal before Oihan Sancet's equaliser in a competitive 45 minutes, and the new signings are certainly impressing in front of their supporters.

Milos Kerkez's bravery is appreciated by the crowd as he wins a header but gets wiped out in the process.

As soon as Liverpool get the ball back there are at least four red shirts sprinting towards the Athletic Bilbao defence. All-out attack mode.

Athletic Bilbao goalscorer Oihan Sancet is going to have to be replaced here.

He came off worse in a challenge with Dominik Szoboszlai and can't continue. Peio Canales, who came on as a substitute in the first game, is back on the pitch.

It may be a pre-season friendly, but this is very, very watchable.

It's fast-paced, end-to-end football. Liverpool look incredibly fluid in their new system and it's giving Athletic Bilbao all sorts of headaches.

Unai Simon again denies Florian Wirtz a goal on his Anfield bow.

It's another wonderful pass through from Mo Salah, and Wirtz is able to get a shot away on the side, but Simon gets out quickly to block.

Goodness me, that would've been something! Ibrahima Konate attempts a spectacular overhead kick as the ball comes to him in the box, and he perhaps hits it too cleanly as it flies just over the bar.

Liverpool have a run of corners, and they'll get yet another as Dominik Szoboszlai sees a shot from the edge of the box headed behind.

Athletic Bilbao are really struggling to clear their lines here.

They win a corner, which Ibrahima Konate heads towards goal, but it's headed away for another set-piece.

Dominik Szoboszlai leaps into a challenge and catches Mikel Jauregizar in the face with his hand. The Athletic Bilbao man isn't best pleased with that but manages to shake it off.
