Denmark ended Greece's hopes of World Cup qualification with a dominant victory in Copenhagen - a result which seals at least a play-off place for Scotland.

The Danes, who return to the top of Group C on goal difference after being usurped by Scotland's earlier win over Belarus, stretched their goal difference advantage with an impressive first-half performance.

Rasmus Hojlund, on loan at Napoli from Manchester United, capitalised on a defensive blunder to poke Brian Riemer's side in front, before Joachim Andersen and Mikkel Damsgaard added two more before the break.

Staring elimination in the face, Greece threw all they could at the second half, with Tasos Bakasetas hitting a post before Club Brugge's Christos Tzolis lashed something of lifeline beyond Kasper Schmeichel.

The Celtic goalkeeper was spared conceding a second thanks to a goal-line clearance from Andersen, who hooked away Vangelis Pavlidis' dinked effort.

Ivan Jovanovic's side had the ball in the net again, but Pavlidis was comfortably offside as they left themselves too much to do.

Greece, who sit third with three points from four games, now cannot match or overtake their hosts or Scotland, who are both on 10 points with two games remaining.
