Marko Arnautovic's goal was his seventh of the season in all competitions
Marko Arnautovic opened the scoring as Inter Milan moved six points clear at the top of Serie A with a comfortable win over Cagliari.
The veteran forward gave the home side an early lead when he collected a loose ball inside the penalty area before sending an emphatic finish into the roof of the net.
Lauro Martinez doubled Inter's advantage with a delicate finish, moments after goalkeeper Yann Sommer had denied Cagliari forward Roberto Piccoli in a one-on-one.
Piccoli made amends for that first-half miss when he sent a firm header past Sommer three minutes after the restart, but Yann Bisseck's header from Federico Dimarco's corner restored Inter's two-goal lead and completed the scoring.
Second-placed Napoli can cut Inter's lead to three points if they beat Empoli on Monday evening.
Meanwhile, Cagliari remain six points above the relegation zone but have played a game more than two of the five teams below them in the table.
