Elliot Lee joined Wrexham from Luton Town for the 2022-23 season
Elliot Lee settled a dramatic encounter at Crawley Town in promotion-challengers Wrexham's favour.
Matty James struck just after the first minute was up, latching on to Ollie Rathbone's cross to hit the target.
New signing Jay Rodriguez had threatened even before that, but neither he nor fellow new striker Sam Smith could find the net on their debuts for the hosts.
Instead it took until the 90th minute for Crawley to level through Bradley Ibrahim only for Lee to hit back in 95th with a header.
The win helped the visitors gain ground on second-placed Wycombe Wanderers, who were held to a draw at Cambridge United, while Crawley remain in the relegation zone after seeing a glut of chances thwarted.
Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson:
"It was a tremendous cross from Ryan (Longman) and a brilliant header by Elliot. He is good great at arriving in the box in that position, as he's shown many times… yes, it was a brilliant moment for us.
"It was an important win for us. We needed to get back to winning ways.
"We've had a tough week with a with a game on Tuesday, and all the change around - a good week because we brought some good players in, but just really pleased to get the win."
