  1. 'Got to question City's defending'published at 20:56 British Summer Time

    Chelsea 2-0 Man City

    Gilly Flaherty
Former Chelsea and England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live at Stamford Bridge

You've got to question Man City's defending. Why is it so easy for them to get a cross in your box in the first place? Nobody is goal side of their players.

Maika Hamano is just free to tap it away.

What did we say about Hamano earlier on?

"Quietly goes about her business and pops up with the odd goal."

Well she's made Chelsea's lead doubly sure with that cool finish.

GOAL - Chelsea 2-0 Man Citypublished at 20:53 British Summer Time

    Maika Hamano (64 mins)

    Sucker punch.

Having been second best so far in the second half, Chelsea get a bit of space down the right hand side and they make it count.

It's Wieke Kaptein that gets away from Alex Greenwood this time before squaring for Maika Hamano to sweep home.

    Chelsea 1-0 Man City

Gracie Prior plays a loose ball into midfield and suddenly Chelsea have four players running at the City defence.

Thankfully Ayaka Yamashita is alive to it and comes out to smother the danger.

Man City have a lot more bodies higher up and that helps them when they win the ball back. In the first half, Chelsea were able to bring it into space easily.

A standing ovation from some parts of the stadium as goalscorer and Euro 2025 winner Aggie Beever-Jones heads off.

She's delivered again at Stamford Bridge.

  7. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 20:52 British Summer Time

    Chelsea 1-0 Man City

That will be the England forward's her last act of the game as she's replaced by USA forward Catarina Macario.

  8. CLOSE!published at 20:52 British Summer Time

    Chelsea 1-0 Man City

Aggie Beever-Jones attempts to double her and Chelsea's tallies for the evening with a curling effort but it's high and wide of the target.

  9. YELLOW CARDpublished at 56 mins

    Chelsea 1-0 Man City

New City midfielder Sydney Lohmann receives a yellow card for a cynical foul on Maika Hamano.

Not the sort of welcome card she would have wished for on her debut.

  10. 'Brilliant technique by Hasegawa'published at 20:45 British Summer Time

    Chelsea 1-0 Man City

    Gilly Flaherty
Former Chelsea and England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live at Stamford Bridge

It was brilliant technique, but I think if Lauren Hemp had released it a second earlier, Yui Hasegawa would've been able to step straight onto it like Aggie Beever-Jones did with her goal.

Fascinating to see Yui Hasegawa playing much higher for Manchester City in their midfield. She's been on the end of some good chances.

  12. CLOSE!published at 53 mins

    Chelsea 1-0 Man City

Ah so close to the equaliser!

City work a smart move from back to front in seven or so passes, which ends in Yui Hasegawa losing her marker at the near post and attempting a cheeky backheeled finish.

Unfortunately for the visitors, it rolls centimetres wide of the far stick. Encouraging signs though.

I'm surprised Man City haven't made any changes but maybe Andree Jeglertz has a game plan and he wants to stick with that for 15 minutes before making changes.

Talking of City skipper Greenwood, she swings a corner onto the head of Bunny Shaw who nods at goal but it drops wide of the target.

She wants another corner but referee Emily Heaslip is unmoved.

Kaneryd starts every game for me as she is such a threat, hopefully she will be brought on when the City defence starts to tire.

    Scott - Fife

While England eventually got the better of Sweden in their Euro 2025 quarter-final in the summer, JRK had a field day on the right wing for them.

Not a sight England's Alex Greenwood will want to see on the touchline later.

  16. 'Unfortunate for Hasegawa'published at 20:40 British Summer Time

    Chelsea 1-0 Man City

    Gilly Flaherty
Former Chelsea and England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live at Stamford Bridge

Really good effort there. It's a beautifully lofted cross in and Yui Hasegawa doesn't even have to stop her stride.

She's unfortunate that it doesn't go in.

  17. GREAT SAVE!published at 48 mins

    Chelsea 1-0 Man City

A bouncing ball causes havoc in the Chelsea box and just as they think they've got it clear Yui Hasegawa pops up to hit a vicious volley at goal for City.

It's straight at Hannah Hampton though and she gets a good double handed parry behind it.

Anyone thinking 45 minutes defines the season really hasn't been paying attention. Chelsea need another goal here imo because there's a certain amount of fortune them leading going into the break. Some good saves by Hannah & the crossbar, plus other teams have invested heavily. Much closer season than last

    That's the spirit Jon!
