  1. Where is the final?published at 09:10 Greenwich Mean Time 28 March

This season's final takes place in Lisbon, at the 50,095-capacity Jose Alvalade Stadium, home of men's side Sporting.

It is the second time the showpiece event has been held in Lisbon, after Wolfsburg's 4-3 win over Tyreso at Estadio do Restelo in 2014.

I find it frustrating how much English viewing bias there is when discussing favourites for the Champions League. Have pundits not been watching Lyon this season? Did they not see how Barca destroyed Wolfsburg? Yes, Chelsea are an excellent team and have a very good chance of winning the tournament, but calling them “unstoppable” when they will likely have to beat the two powerhouses of European football over the last 10 years is staggering and disrespectful to Lyon and Barca.

  4. 'Really tough to take'published at 08:48 Greenwich Mean Time 28 March

FT: Chelsea 3-0 Man City (agg 3-2)

    Manchester City

Manchester City captain Leila Ouahabi: "I think it's tough tonight. We had a good result from the first leg. They were better in some moments. We are a good team but they are also a good team. They were better in some moments and took the opportunity to win.

"It's very tough. It's a big dream for us. It's one of our goals to be there, to win the Champions League. We'll review the game and I'm sure we'll be better.

On how difficult this result is: "We dream of the best games, of trophies. Sometimes it's hard. We have a lot of injuries, we're facing a lot of different situations that's not normal. I think we had a good team to go, to win but we didn't. Today's really tough to take."

I don't think Man City had enough. If they were going to score it was going to be in the first half, not the second.

They looked tired and it hit them. It took the wind out of them going into half-time 3-0 down.

Their squad depth hasn't helped them at all and the injuries. They don't have anyone who can change the game or freshen things up.

  6. 'Mentality monsters' ravage short-handed Citypublished at 08:37 Greenwich Mean Time 28 March

'Mentality monsters' was the label given to Chelsea after years of success under previous manager Emma Hayes - and they have built on that with Bompastor.

"We stick to the facts," was the message from the Blues boss this week as she reminded her players there was plenty of time for them to bounce back from last week's 2-0 first-leg defeat.

Their belief and composure was evident in abundance as they refused to take their foot off the gas and maintained the pressure on City.

The lack of depth in the City squad was on show, with only four outfield players on the bench due to a long list of injuries which meant options to switch things up were limited.

It felt like a mountain to climb and, although City improved in the second half, Bompastor's side looked comfortable defending their lead.

City have shown improvements during Nick Cushing's short time as interim manager, but this was the ultimate test against England's serial winners and they fell short.

With Chelsea, it doesn't even matter with regards to the score they're coming into the game, they've got people who can score.

When the odds are against them they seem to raise their game even more.

  8. 'I knew we could do it'published at 08:23 Greenwich Mean Time 28 March

FT: Chelsea 3-0 Man City (agg 3-2)

    Chelsea

Chelsea boss Sonia Bompastor speaking to TNT Sports: "What a special night in front of our fans at Stamford Bridge. After the first leg I knew we could do it. It's something to say and something to turn words into action. I'm so proud of my players. We deserved to go through."

On what gave her the belief: "As a player and manager, in football when you are alive everything can be possible. I told my players we are having a great season. Tonight is a night to create memories and the girls did that. They put all out there."

On if it is her best win as Chelsea boss: "I had some good ones but this is a special one for sure. This is why football is magic. This is why I really love football.

"We started the game strong, we scored three goals in 45 minutes. My plan was wrong, I told them we had 90 minutes but we did that in the first half. If we play that way we are a really good team."

On if Chelsea can go all the way: "We have all the quality to go all the way. It will be tough games against Barcelona, but tonight is time for us to enjoy. We will see later how we can focus on going into the semi-final."

To finally win the Champions League, Chelsea will have to get past a Barcelona side who have ended their European dream in three of the past four seasons.

The Catalans won 4-0 in the 2021 final and then knocked Chelsea out in the semi-finals in 2023 and 2024 on the way to lifting the trophy.

Those painful memories, along with Bompastor's defeats against Barcelona while manager at Lyon, will act as added motivation next month.

But, having added to their squad with the arrivals of USA defender Naomi Girma and former Barcelona midfielder Keira Walsh, is this finally Chelsea's year?

"We'll do everything possible to make that happen but, as you know, Barcelona have a lot of experience and talent in the squad," said Bompastor.

"In football, everything is possible. I will bring all the confidence we need to go into those two games but first of all we want to enjoy this, because it was not easy."

If we (Chelsea) can get the better of Barcelona over the two legs in semis then our quadruple hopes will be in no doubt - but those two games wouldn’t define our season because it’s been incredible already.

Holders Barcelona cruised past Wolfsburg to set up a Women's Champions League semi-final with Chelsea.

Barcelona secured a dominant 4-1 win in the first leg and were quick to extend their aggregate lead at Estadi Johan Cruyff, with Salma Paralluelo hitting two goals past Wolfsburg keeper Anneke Borbe inside 20 minutes.

Esmee Brugts added a third before the break, drilling a shot from the edge of the box into the bottom-left corner of the Wolfsburg goal.

Substitute Claudia Pina made an impact off the bench for the hosts, linking up well with Alexia Putellas to slot in before Lineth Beerensteyn pulled a consolation goal back for Wolfsburg following a poor clearance from goalkeeper Cata Coll.

However, Barcelona wrapped up the victory in style with Pina and Mapi Leon each sending superb free-kicks past Borbe to give the Catalans a 10-2 win on aggregate.

There can be no complaints from Manchester City. Chelsea were far superior at Stamford Bridge.

Their next test will be even greater as they face Barcelona in the semi-finals for the third season in a row.

But under Sonia Bompastor's leadership, they will feel in good hands.

City will be deflated but they have shown improvements under Nick Cushing in the past two weeks which is encouraging.

  14. Chelsea emerge on top in mini-seriespublished at 07:38 Greenwich Mean Time 28 March

Last night brought to a close a fascinating two-week battle between the sides in which they faced each other four times in a row.

Manchester City's sole victory in those matches ultimately proved to be insignificant given Chelsea, as they so often do, found a way to win the games that mattered.

    Man City's - and Chelsea's - last four games:

15 March - Chelsea 2-1 Manchester City (League Cup final)

19 March - Manchester City 2-0 Chelsea (Champions League quarter-final first leg)

23 March - Manchester City 1-2 Chelsea (WSL)

27 March - Chelsea 3-0 Manchester City (Champions League quarter-final second leg, Chelsea win 3-2 on aggregate)

  15. 'We're in the semis for a reason'published at 07:30 Greenwich Mean Time 28 March

FT: Chelsea 3-0 Man City (agg 3-2)

    Chelsea

More from Chelsea captain Millie Bright speaking to BBC Sport on if Thursday's win was the biggest of the season: "I think so. We've had some challenges along the way. When you're in the league unbeaten and you don't experience a loss up until this point, I think everyone was probably not sure how we'd react. We've not been through it ourselves either so I'm really proud of the group for remaining calm in that situation. I think Sonia brings that experience with that and constantly giving the belief and confidence to perform."

On if it feels like this is Chelsea's year to win the Champions League: "You never know until you get there. We're a new Chelsea team, we're in a new era and really excited to be playing against them. It's Champions League, you don't play in semi-finals without playing against top opposition. I think any team you face at this stage is going to be a tough team. We respect their strengths but we're also in the semis for a reason."

Reflecting on the four games against Manchester City: "I'm so glad this four-game period is over. It's been really intense, I think there's a lot of lessons learned to be honest. It's been a new experience but I'm glad it's over."

  16. 'A true Chelsea performance'published at 07:22 Greenwich Mean Time 28 March

FT: Chelsea 3-0 Man City (agg 3-2)

    Chelsea

Chelsea captain Millie Bright speaking to BBC Sport: "I'm just really proud. We had all the belief coming into this game that we were capable of turning it around. I think even from the first leg, yes we lost but we had chances where we could have come away with a better result.

"We were fully confident and knowing we created our chances and just needed to be ruthless. Even tonight, we could've had more than three. Tonight was a true Chelsea performance, the fans were incredible. It's all about the mentality and belief and everyone stepping up and delivering.

"I don't think you can [relax]. It's a Champions League quarter-final. City are a top team and we knew that we had to be on it from start to finish, something we've spoke about from previous games where they were hitting us on the counter. We were still creating chances, we still could've put some more away, but I think last 10 minutes is where you start to manage the game a little bit. Up until that it was really intense."

  18. Ruthless Chelsea overcome Man Citypublished at 07:08 Greenwich Mean Time 28 March

Chelsea 3-0 Manchester City (Agg: 3-2)

    Emma Sanders
BBC Sport women’s football news reporter at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea blew Manchester City away at Stamford Bridge to turn around a two-goal deficit and book their place in the Women's Champions League semi-finals.

Having lost the first leg 2-0 in Manchester, Sonia Bompastor's side knew they needed to score at least twice - and the hosts were relentless from the off.

Pressing with intensity, running at City's backline and winning the ball high up, Chelsea's efforts paid off when Sandy Baltimore thumped in a 14th-minute opener.

With City struggling to respond, Nathalie Bjorn headed in the hosts' second and Mayra Ramirez capped a blistering half with Chelsea's third just before the break to give them an aggregate lead.

Bompastor's side were completely on top and should have extended their advantage with Bjorn hitting the woodwork and Ramirez squandering further chances.

They maintained their pressure in the second half as Erin Cuthbert struck the crossbar.

City, who appeared shell-shocked by the onslaught, managed to test Chelsea goalkeeper Hannah Hampton on a few occasions but could not muster a goal.
