UEFA Europa League
All competitions
This is the first ever European meeting between Sparta Prague and Aris Limassol – the Czech side have won all four of their previous major European games against Cypriot teams by an aggregate score of 21-1.
Aris Limassol are competing in a major European competition for the very first time. Their three wins in European qualifying phases this season all saw them score at least five times (6-2 and 5-3 vs BATE Borisov in Champions League qualifying, 6-2 vs Slovan Bratislava in Europa League qualifying).
Sparta Prague have lost seven of their last 10 major European matches (W2 D1), losing five of their last six in the 2021-22 season across the UEFA Europa League and Conference League.
Aris Limassol will be the 15th different club from Cyprus to play in major European competition – none of the last 13 have won their debut game (D3 L10) since APOEL Nicosia beat Gjøvik-Lyn 6-0 in the 1963-64 Cup Winners’ Cup.
Sparta Prague’s Jan Kuchta has been involved in seven goals in 15 appearances in major UEFA European competitions, scoring five goals and assisting two for former side Slavia Prague across the Europa League and Conference League. Indeed, he scored in his last two such games, against Maccabi Haifa and Feyenoord in the 2021-22 Conference League.
