AZ Alkmaar are fifth in the Dutch league
Manchester United and Tottenham will face AZ Alkmaar or Real Sociedad in the last 16 of the Europa League after the latter sides won their respective play-off ties.
Dutch side Alkmaar drew 2-2 with Turkey's Galatasaray on Thursday to progress 6-3 on aggregate, while Spanish outfit Sociedad beat Midtjylland of Denmark 5-2 on Thursday to go through 7-3 on aggregate.
Alkmaar had won the first leg of the knockout round tie 4-1 to take command and went 2-0 up in the return.
A clearance bounced in off Seiya Maikuma three minutes before half-time for their first and Denso Kasius added a second 10 minutes after the break with a fine drive from distance.
Galatasaray fought back well as Victor Osimhen's half volley made it 2-1, just a minute after Kasius' strike, before Roland Sallai slotted in an equaliser in the 70th minute.
But the hosts needed three further goals to take the game to extra time and that proved too much as Alkmaar went through.
Real Sociedad also fended off a fightback as they went 2-0 up in 18 minutes thanks to goals from Brais Mendez and Luka Sucic, but an Adam Buksa penalty and Darío Osorio effort levelled the encounter.
That meant Sociedad's advantage in the tie was back down to one goal, but Sucic's second in first-half added time gave them some breathing room and Midtjylland's task was made even harder when midfielder Dani Silva was sent off for a foul in the 69th minute.
Mikel Oyarzabal was then fouled inside the box for the hosts, but picked himself up to score a 73rd-minute penalty before Orri Oskarsson added a fifth in the 90th minute.
The draw for the last 16 will take place on Friday at 12:00 GMT.
