As ever for AFC Wimbledon, 2023-24 was a season of two halves.
A poor finish to the previous campaign saw alarm bells ring, but the addition of Craig Cope as head of football operations proved a masterstroke. He recruited savvily, maximising the fan-owned club's budget to add some real class to the Dons squad.
A 10th-placed finish disappointed many, but the loss of the goals of Ali Al-Hamadi to Ipswich was always going to hurt.
However, the Dons, as ever, come again. Cope and manager Johnnie Jackson have bolstered the squad once again, adding reinforcements in attack with Matty Stevens and Joe Piggott supporting the gladiator-like Omar Bugiel and the lightning quick Josh Kelly up top.
At the back, Joe Lewis will look to build his partnership with new vice-captain Ryan Johnson, while the presence of another homegrown talent in Jack Currie will no doubt be missed after his move to Oxford.
Whatever happens, it is bound to be another rollercoaster of a campaign in south west London.
