Thierry Henry played in the MLS for four years after leaving Barcelona
Panama striker Cecilio Waterman jumped into the crowd to celebrate a stunning last-minute winner over the United States with Arsenal legend Thierry Henry.
Henry was on a platform behind the goal at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, broadcasting for CBS Sports.
Waterman scored with an angled drive to send Panama into the Concacaf Nations League final against Mexico and the 33-year-old jumped over an advertising board to and went straight to Henry.
He stopped in front of the Frenchman and then hugged him moments before the pair were swamped by Waterman's team-mates.
"They asked me last night who my hero was and I said it has always been Thierry Henry," Waterman said in a post-match interview with Arsenal's record goalscorer.
"Since I was a little kid you have always been an inspiration for me. I scored the goal, I saw you and I knew I had to come and say hi."
A stunned Henry said he would send the striker an Arsenal shirt after Waterman handed over his Panama top.
"Many things have happened to me in my career but this is a special one," said Henry, 47.
"That's the best celebration I have seen."
The US went into the game hoping to avenge a loss to Panama at last year's Copa America, a humiliating result that led to the firing of head coach Gregg Berhalter.
But they were embarrassed again, with Waterman's low finish stunning a sparse crowd in LA.
"We are USA. You cannot win with your shirt. You need to be better and suffer and win the duels and work hard. If not, it's not going to be enough," said manager Mauricio Pochettino.
