Lyon's Tabitha Chawinga takes aim at goal

Goals from Tabitha Chawinga and Melchie Dumornay gave Lyon a valuable win at Bayern Munich in the first leg of their Women's Champions League quarter-final.

Chawinga took full advantage of a mistake from home defender Linda Sembrant to race through on goal and find the right corner midway through the first half.

Goalkeeper Mala Grohs produced a superb display for Bayern to ensure that the visitors' were unable to further boost their lead before the break.

On her first start since being diagnosed with cancer in November, Grohs produced a superb stop to deny Lindsey Heaps from the penalty spot, after Bayern captain Sarah Zadrazil was judged to have fouled Ellie Carpenter in the box.

Midway through the second half the record eight-time winners struck for a second time.

Dumornay executed a smooth one-two with Heaps to get into the box before sliding a low finish past Grohs to seal victory.

It was a poor attacking display by the hosts, who registered just one shot on target.

Having ended Bayern's 11-game unbeaten home run, Lyon will look to finish the job in France in the second leg next Wednesday.
