Former Chelsea youngster, Malik Mothersille inspired Peterborough to come from a goal down against Leyton Orient but they were forced to settle for a point in a 2-2 draw at Brisbane Road.
Tom James' bending effort from the edge of the area after 20 minutes gave Orient the lead but three minutes before half-time Mothersille found space down the left to supply a cross for Kwame Poku to equalise.
Mothersille then gave Peterborough the lead from the penalty spot having sent Ricky Jade-Jones racing clear on the stroke of half-time only for home goalkeeper Zach Hemming to haul him to the ground.
Having lost their opening four matches of the League One campaign, Orient were looking for a third straight win and got themselves level eight minutes after the restart when the visitors failed to deal with a long throw and Charlie Kelman seized on the loose ball to fire low past Jed Steer.
Highly fancied Peterborough will be disappointed they failed to create enough clearcut chances with only Ricky Jade-Jones early shot forcing Zach Hemming into a save but a point lifts them to within goal difference of the play-off places.
It was the home side who almost stole the win in the dying seconds but Dan Happe was just unable to connect at the far post with the goal gaping.
Peterborough manager Darren Ferguson told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire:
"I thought we were fortunate.
"Leyton Orient were more aggressive than us all over the pitch, they pressed us well and I've seen a lot of naivety in us tonight."
