This is the third FA Cup meeting between Southampton and Walsall; Saints won a third round tie 2-1 in 1934-35, before the Saddlers beat them in the second round in 1955-56.
Walsall have never won away against Southampton in all competitions (D2 L7), with this their first visit since a 3-1 loss in League One in May 2011.
Southampton have won six of their last seven FA Cup third round ties, with the exception being a penalty shootout defeat to Derby County in 2018-19.
