Cameron Humphreys’ strike on his debut set Wycombe on their way to a 2-0 victory over Rotherham at Adams Park.

The Ipswich loanee struck with 20 minutes remaining before Kieran Sadlier kept his cool from the spot to secure Wanderers’ first League One win of the campaign.

The first meaningful attempt of the contest fell to Rotherham midfielder Joe Powell in the eighth minute, but his 25-yard free-kick was easily gathered by goalkeeper Franco Ravizzoli.

Sam Nombe smashed over from close range moments later, while Ravizzoli was on hand to deny Hakeem Odoffin and Mallik Wilks.

For the Chairboys, Richard Kone forced Dillon Phillips into a comfortable stop, before the ex-Charlton player was on hand to thwart an effort from Matt Butcher.

The second half was a lot more lively as both teams went for it.

Ravizzoli again denied Nombe, Odoffin and Wilks, with the latter’s strike being tipped on to the post.

Debutant Aaron Morley went close for Wycombe, while Dan Udoh’s header missed the target by inches.

But the breakthrough came in the 70th minute for Wanderers.

A long ball played over by Sadlier found Humphreys, who did brilliantly to turn the Millers’ defence inside out, before he unleashed an unstoppable drive beyond Phillips.

Sadlier then wrapped up the win with a penalty with five minutes remaining.
