Liverpool and Toulouse have met just once previously in UEFA competition, with the Reds winning 5-0 on aggregate over two legs of UEFA Champions League qualifying in August 2007. Those are Toulouse’s only previous European matches against an English side.
Liverpool have only lost two of 15 previous European home games against French clubs (W12 D1), winning their last three in a row since a 1-2 defeat to Lyon in the 2009-10 UEFA Champions League group stage.
Liverpool are unbeaten in their last 10 UEFA Europa League group stage games (W5 D5), since a 1-0 loss to Anzhi Makhachkala in November 2012. Including the UEFA Champions League, the Reds have won 13 of their last 14 group games in Europe (L1).
Following a 1-0 win over LASK on MD2, Toulouse are looking to win consecutive games in the same season in major European competition for the first time since 1987-88, when they beat Panionios home and away in the UEFA Cup first round.
Liverpool’s Diogo Jota has scored seven goals in his last six UEFA Europa League appearances, despite only starting three of those outings. He is averaging a goal every 66 minutes in the competition, the best ratio of any player with more than five goals since the tournament began in 2009.
