UEFA Europa League
All competitions
Rennes will be Panathinaikos’ sixth different French opponent in European competition; the Greek club have only lost one of six previous home games against French teams in Europe (W4 D1), a 0-1 defeat to Auxerre in the 2003-04 UEFA Cup.
Rennes have only faced a Greek side in any European competition once before, losing 5-1 to PAOK Salonika in the 2005-06 UEFA Cup group stage.
Panathinaikos are one of three sides yet to concede a goal in this season’s UEFA Europa League (W1 D1), along with Slavia Prague and Qarabag. They last kept three consecutive clean sheets in the competition in 2009-10, which was also the last time they won multiple group games.
Rennes lost 1-0 at Villarreal last time out, ending an eight game unbeaten run for the French side in the UEFA Europa League group stages (W5 D3).
Rennes’ Désiré Doué has been involved in 21 open play sequences that have ended in a shot for his side in this season’s UEFA Europa League (9 shots, 4 chances created, 8 in the build-up), at least three more than any other player.
