"The position we have with him, he is a lovely unbelievable guy but he didn't play for us for different reasons. He is back to real business. He is playing every game."

Guardiola says he spoke to Grealish when he left the club on loan in the summer, but not since.

@Matty (10:36) does realise the Club World Cup has been running since 2000 and this year was the 21st iteration of the tournament, doesn't he? So no 'first and only' champions. Or maybe his lack of knowledge is just proving Clive right - it's a meaningless tournament no one cares about.

Get Involved - Blaming CWC for injuries 'narrow-minded'published at 12:21 BST

I think blaming the Club World Cup for injuries is really narrow-minded. Chelsea's injury list this season has mainly comprised of players that are more familiar with the physio room than the training pitch. Is the CWC to blame for Arsenal's injuries? Tottenham's? Brighton's?

  7. Pressure mounts on Postecogloupublished at 12:16 BST

Nottingham Forest v Chelsea (Sat, 12:30 BST)

    Sami Mokbel
    BBC Sport Senior football correspondent

The potential consequences of defeat this weekend will not be lost on Nottingham Forest head coach Ange Postecoglou.

Just six months ago Postecoglou masterminded Tottenham's euphoric Europa League triumph, ending the club's 17-year trophy drought in the process.

Just over two weeks later, the 60-year-old was sacked.

Now, in his new role as Forest manager, Postecoglou's position is once again under major scrutiny.

But this time the body of work is less impressive. Postecoglou has overseen seven matches since replacing Nuno Espirito Santo 38 days ago; he's not managed a single victory in that time.

It is understood the process of identifying replacements in the event of his sacking are under way, and developed during the international break.

  8. Postecoglou under pressure as Forest consider Dychepublished at 12:10 BST

The pressure is mounting on Nottingham Forest manager Ange Postecoglou as his side host Chelsea at the City Ground on Saturday.

BBC Sport reported last week that Forest will consider Sean Dyche as their new manager should they decide to sack Postecoglou.

Postecoglou's future at the club is uncertain after a seven-match winless start to the Australian's reign, with a 2-0 defeat to Newcastle before the break the latest in a long list of setbacks.

The 54-year-old Dyche has been out of work since leaving Everton in January. He was linked with the vacant manager's job at Rangers earlier this month.

Forest, however, are likely to be of greater interest to Dyche, who lives in relatively close proximity to Nottingham and was a youth player at the club at the start of his career.

Former City Ground favourites Ian Woan and Steve Stone have also been long-term members of Dyche's coaching staff during his managerial spells at Burnley and Everton.

Everyone has their opinion on injuries, I think it’s a combination of things. But the main factor has been the removal of the magic sponge.

Agreed, nothing to do with three games in a week.

  10. City waiting on Rodripublished at 12:00 BST

Man City v Everton (15:00 BST)

We're expecting Pep Guardiola to give us an update on the fitness of Manchester City midfielder Rodri.

The Spaniard was forced off with a hamstring injury during City's 1-0 defeat of Brentford just before the international break, and didn't appear to take part in group training on Thursday.

Given how his side struggled without Rodri during his ACL injury absence last season, Guardiola could be forgiven for being a bit worried.

  11. City look to extend unbeaten runpublished at 11:55 BST

Man City v Everton (15:00 BST)

Since suffering back-to-back defeats at the end of August, Manchester City have quietly put together a strong run of form.

Pep Guardiola's side have won four and drawn two of their last six games in all competitions, including a 3-0 thrashing of local rivals Manchester United.

They came within minutes of beating title rivals Arsenal in the Premier League and Monaco in the Champions League, but conceded late goals. That's something Guardiola will want to snuff out.

City are fifth in the table, three points off leaders Arsenal.

Up next is Everton, who have started the season well under David Moyes.

  13. Odegaard in a 'really good place'published at 11:45 BST

Fulham v Arsenal (Sat, 17:30 BST)

    Arsenal

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta on how Martin Odegaard is dealing with injuries mentally:

"I think he's in a really good place. It was disappointing how it happened. The good thing is that he does everything that he possibly can to prevent injuries. The injuries that he had, they are very, very difficult to prevent. So that's something that you take a weight off yourself.

"And that's it. And then he cannot afford to be in a different mindset. He's the captain. He needs to drive the standard. He needs to be the example. He needs to bring that next to that. So that's it. When you don't have an option, you are a dad. You have to look after your kids. You have to be there. You are good. You are tired. You don't. You have to be there. That's his responsibility in the team."

  14. Hincapie is 'very clean on the ball'published at 11:40 BST

Fulham v Arsenal (Sat, 17:30 BST)

    Arsenal

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta on what fans can expect to see from Piero Hincapie, who is back from injury and available for Sunday:

"Well, what you're going to see is his aggression, his determination. He's a player that goes full gas to every single action, especially in defending. And with the ball, whether he plays a left centre-back or a full-back, a player that is very clean on the ball. Again, someone that really wants to penetrate, whether it's with the ball he's positioning. And it will bring a different character and emotion to the team."

  15. 'Martinelli's doing what we expect'published at 11:38 BST

Fulham v Arsenal (Sat, 17:30 BST)

    Arsenal

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta on Gabriel Martinelli putting pressure on to get a third start of the season after scoring for Brazil during the international break:

"He's doing what we expect from everybody to do. He's got the minutes, the opportunity to deliver and to impact the game and especially the results. And then his attitude overall, his behaviour, the way he trains, the way he carries himself, his willingness to learn constantly. There are many examples throughout the team.

"But I'm very pleased to see Gabi going to the national team again and scoring and performing well. That's all good signs because when they come back, the spirit is good, the confidence is good, so everything is easier."

  16. 'It's going to give us a big chance'published at 11:35 BST

Fulham v Arsenal (Sat, 17:30 BST)

    Arsenal

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta on his side conceding just three goals in 10 games this season:

"Well, that's a platform to build performances and results, that's for sure. And we want to consistently be able to defend at that level. In order to do that is how we attack and how committed everybody is to do what we have to do. And if we continue to do that, it's going to give us a big chance to get where we want.

  17. 'We've gone to a different level'published at 11:32 BST

Fulham v Arsenal (Sat, 17:30 BST)

    Arsenal

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta on the positives he has seen from his side so far this season:

"A lot of things. There have been two very different blocks. In the second block, because of some issues that we had, we had to increase our availability in the squad. That was one of the main things to do.

"The impact that anybody could have in the game, whether he was playing or finishing, or he wasn't even in the squad. I think we did that really, really well. And then we have evolved a few things that we wanted. To be more unpredictable, to threaten more the opposition, to be super consistent in all the defensive aspects of the game as well. And we've gone to a different level. And after that, in the next block, can we sustain a lot of those things and increase others? That's the objective."

  18. Havertz making progress before returnpublished at 11:27 BST

Fulham v Arsenal (Sat, 17:30 BST)

    Arsenal

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has confirmed Kai Havertz is now in the final phase of his recovery from a knee injury and could make a return earlier than expected.

"There's still a lot to do in his rehab. He's really pushing it, we know Kai and that's why we love him so much. But we have to wait and see. I think we are doing a really good work with him again. He wants to break every timeline, I'm sure. But as well, we have to protect him and make sure that when he comes back, he's come back for the long term."

On Martin Zubimendi, who missed training on Thursday:

"All the players come from different countries, different amounts of games and minutes played, and we believe that it was the right thing to do. He played two games again, his load has been really high recently and he needs an extra day. He will be available."

Arteta said that Ben White is in a "very similar" situation.

He added that Noni Madueke is "getting closer as well. He's going to start very soon doing some running, let's see how that works."

  19. Odegaard has 'no definite return date'published at 11:25 BST

Fulham v Arsenal (Sat, 17:30 BST)

    Arsenal

More from Mikel Arteta on Martin Odegaard's injury:

"It will be weeks. No definite date for his return, but he's evolving well. Very unlucky, what's happening with him and his injuries this season. But yeah, I think he will be back in a few weeks.

"We'll have to see how he progresses, how the knee is healing, how he manages after the next steps in his rehab. So, too early to give an answer."

  20. 'Really pleased' over Pickford contract newspublished at 11:23 BST

Man City v Everton (Sat, 15:00 BST)

    Everton

Everton boss David Moyes speaking on Jordan Pickford signing a new contract with the club: "Really pleased. Good news we got Tarkowkski signed as well. Jarrad Branthwaite too in the summer. They've been three players that have made a big difference to the team, especially since I've came in. They've done a great job, so really pleased to get Pickford tied up as well."
