Saturday's Women's League Cup final represents the first opportunity of the season to win silverware - so Chelsea and Manchester City are looking to take advantage.
Chelsea are on course to win a sixth consecutive Women's Super League title and they remain unbeaten as they aim to secure a historic quadruple.
They will also want to avoid defeat in the League Cup final, being played at Pride Park for a fourth year running.
Meanwhile, Manchester City parted ways with manager Gareth Taylor earlier this week after a run of inconsistent performances.
They appointed former boss Nick Cushing on an interim basis until the end of the season but despite their faltering league form, they are targeting a cup treble.
'We know what we need to do' - Bompastor
Though Chelsea boss Sonia Bompastor has never previously faced Cushing, she does not expect City to play with a drastically different approach.
"We know they won't change a lot of things, they have principles," she said.
"The main focus is on ourselves, we know exactly what we need to do to be successful. It's a great opportunity for us to grab a first trophy."
City captain Alex Greenwood admitted she was "shocked" by the decision to dismiss Taylor, while January arrival Kerolin said it is "hard" to go into a final five days after changing coach.
Yet Vivianne Miedema feels Cushing - who managed City for seven years and led them to the WSL title in 2016 - has already made a positive impression.
"He's been really positive, trying to get the troops together and prepare as well as possible for Saturday," the Dutch forward told BBC Sport.
"It's a good challenge for him [facing Chelsea in first game], he looked so excited this morning. He's shown before how good a manager he can be.
"As a team we see this as a huge chance to get our first silverware this season."
Cushing's main objective is to secure a top-three finish and a place in Europe next season but winning the League Cup could help with that.
"It would give us massive confidence, the upcoming games will be really difficult," Miedema said.
"We want to show how good we can be still, we just need to be more consistent. If we can do that with this team then we can beat anyone."

'The ultimate challenge' for City - Cushing
There is also the bizarre matter of the two sides meeting each other four times in 12 days across three different competitions.
Following Saturday's final in Derby, the rivals will contest a two-legged Champions League quarter-final, with a WSL fixture sandwiched between.
"I think we'll be quite fed up of seeing each other by the fourth game, but at the same time it's really exciting," said Miedema.
"We always say we want to measure ourselves against the best teams in Europe."
The first trophy Cushing won as manager was the League Cup with City during his first spell at the club in 2014.
"Since then, I've been obsessed with winning trophies. To have the opportunity to win another one for this group and organisation is enough motivation," said Cushing.
"It's a great challenge. As coaches we want to create our teams and prepare our teams to go against the best.
"The next four games are the ultimate challenge for our group so we've got to embrace it and attack it."
Both teams missing key players
Chelsea will be without Naomi Girma, former City midfielder Keira Walsh and Guro Reiten after the trio failed to recover from injuries in time.
Bompastor had hoped that Girma and Walsh would return after missing the last two games, while Reiten returned from international duty with a back injury.
On Thursday, Bompastor said Girma - who joined Chelsea for a world record-breaking fee of around £900,000 in January - is being evaluated "week by week" while Walsh is "not too far from rejoining the group".
Sam Kerr continues to recover from the ACL injury she suffered 14 months ago but has been included in Chelsea's UEFA squad for the knockout stages of the Champions League.
Cushing is also missing several key players with England internationals Lauren Hemp and Alex Greenwood still recovering from knee injuries.
"Alex is on the grass, which is a huge positive. Lauren has a huge desire to be in the team before the end of the season but we just have to trust our medical staff," Cushing said.
Germany defender Rebecca Knaak also misses out but Japan forward Aoba Fujino is set to be available after recovering from a foot injury.
